The Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE)

Founded in 1946, UFPE is one of Brazil’s leading public universities and a national reference in science, technology, and innovation. With over 43,000 students and more than 3,000 faculty members, UFPE plays a central role in higher education and research in the Northeast Region of Brazil. The university is home to 656 official research groups and offers 92 Master's and 53 Ph.D. programs across a wide range of disciplines.
The Center for Technology and Geosciences (CTG), where the Chair is based, includes 14 departments in engineering and earth sciences. CTG has a strong tradition of collaboration with industry and government, supporting applied research and technological development in areas such as civil engineering, geology, geophysics, and petroleum engineering.
i-LITPEG: The Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research

i-LITPEG (formerly known as LITPEG) is the first official research institute at UFPE, created in 2019 and expanded in 2023. It focuses on generating and applying interdisciplinary knowledge in oil, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. Its mission is to support sustainable development in Brazil and abroad through scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration with industry.
With over 12,000 square meters of space, the institute hosts:

An auditorium with capacity for 150 people,

Facilities for simulation, reservoir characterization, rock mechanics, and digital petrophysics.

LITPEG is also an Embrapii Unit in the area of Energy and Environment, accredited in 2023. It provides a national platform for R&D projects co-funded by industry, offering access to cutting-edge technology and highly qualified research teams.
The Energi Simulation Chair is physically located within LITPEG, which supports its experimental, computational, and collaborative activities. The Chair benefits directly from LITPEG’s infrastructure, industry partnerships, and academic environment.
